HArajunku
This is an ongoing series I have titled "Hara-junk-u" which is a term created from the Japanese Harajuku + junk: "Harajuku" because of the Harajuku aesthetic inspiration and "junk" because of collaged background made from old toy boxes and packaging. Harajuku style is a mix of vibrant Japanese street fashion named after the artsy province of Tokyo. I was fortunate enough to visit Harajuku on my first visit to Japan in 2014 with my great uncle and aunt (my uncle always used to tell me he though it sounded better as "harakuju"). The combination of Harajuku style and repurposing old Japanese toy boxes is an homage to my childhood and Japanese heritage.
